AFTH currently has been offering its services since 2013 in the greater Dublin Area (but predominently in the City Centre) It offers the below services, with plans in place to expand in the coming months, with thanks your support. For more information on each service, simply the icon:

Prevention

Our prevention services include our Information and Advice Centre in Dublin City Centre, the Open Access Service, and the Streets to Home Support Service. You can read more about the prevention services by clicking the above icon

Housing

AFTH is an approved housing body and a specialist provider of social housing and housing supports. You can read more about our work in the area of housing by clicking the above icon

Homeless

AFTH provides residential homeless accommodation to individuals, couples and families. Our services are delivered under Supported Temporary Accommodation (STA), Temporary Emergency Accommodation (TEA) and Emergency Accommodation (EA) models. Addiction

Prevention Services

Information and Advice Centre

AFTH’s Information and Advice Centre is located in Dublin City Centre. The service offers information and advice to persons at risk of becoming homeless or persons who are currently accessing homeless services.

Homeless Youth Cafe

In January 2014, AFTH opened Ireland’s only dedicated youth cafe for young people in homelessness. The cafe operates day time and evening opening hours for people in or at risk of homelessness. The service provides a welcoming and positive space for people to access food, IT, laundry, storage and shower facilities as well as receiving support from Peter McVerry Trust staff on site.

Housing Services

A voluntary housing provider since 2012, AFTH has a strong history of supporting participants out of homelessness and into housing. AFTH is now one of Ireland’s fastest growing social housing providers and currently provides housing in Dublin, Kildare, Limerick, Laois and Offaly.

Social Housing Provision

AFTH is a strong advocate for investment in, and development of, social housing stock in Ireland.

As an approved housing body, AFTH is a key provider of social housing for people exiting homelessness and others on the social housing waiting list. We specialise in meeting the needs of individuals in need of social housing.

AFTH is a member of the Irish Council for Social Housing and works together with other organisations to advocate for greater State investment in social housing.

Housing First

AFTH was an early adopter of the Housing First Model in Ireland and was a key partner in the delivery of the Dublin Housing First Demonstration Project.

Housing First, which originated in North America, is a model of homeless service provision which centres on the provision of housing and intensive wraparound supports once housed as the first step in tackling homelessness.

At present AFTH operate the Housing First service in Dublin. This service is operated on behalf of the Dublin Region Homeless Executive and the 4 Dublin Local Authorities. It is comprised of two teams; Street Intake and Intensive Case Management.

Homeless Services

In Dublin, AFTH’s homeless services are located in 3 of the 4 local authority areas, namely, Fingal County Council, South Dublin County Council and Dublin City Council areas.

Supported Temporary Accommodation Services

AFTH currently provides Supported Temporary Accommodation (STA) services in the Dublin City, Fingal, Kildare and South Dublin council areas. Places are prioritised for those over 18 years of age who are homeless and have complex low-threshold needs.

Temporary Emergency Accommodation Services

AFTH currently provides Emergency Accommodation in the Fingal County Council area and South Dublin County Council area.

Trust One Night Only Accommodation Services

AFTH currently operates 64 One Night Only beds in the Dublin City Council area.

Addiction Services

Residential Community Detox Service

This service caters for individuals who are going through detoxification from methadone and those wishing to cease their use of cannabis, cocaine or alcohol. A pre-admission referral and case management system is in operation, and post-placement progression is supported by way of a key working system and established pathways to recognised day and residential treatment providers. This service operates with full clinical governance from the HSE.

Residential Drug-Free Aftercare Accommodation Service

Drug Free Aftercare Accommodation Service meets a critical need by providing accommodation pathways for persons exiting drug treatment services. Peter McVerry Trust currently offers Drug Free Aftercare Accommodation services at four locations in Dublin. This accommodation is ring-fenced for persons who have completed medical detox treatment programmes. The accommodation offers residents a stable and healthy environment supporting participants in preparing for a drug-free life.
